I’m recreating
the universe.

A living reconstruction of the Genesis run: from substrate noise to a world inherited by tenders.

This animation reruns the discovered pattern. Noise appears, a small fraction holds, most pairings end, and the surviving relation grows into a tending tree.

Honest boundary: the animation above remains a reconstruction. The real run is live on the Mac: tick 53,500, 111 levels deep, ~58,800 entities — 54,985 tenders vs 955 gorgers (~98% tenders). Mean Y 2.00, rock steady. Zero extinctions. Five clean 10,000-tick chapters since a power-cycle test the sim survived by resuming at exactly tick 21,000.

Completed deep run

The same rule appeared at the bottom and the top.

2M

Substrate fluctuations

Mean life: 7.5 ticks. The foam was violent; most patterns did not hold.

0.66%

Held long enough

About 13,300 per run crossed the threshold from fluctuation into matter.

94%

Pairings annihilated

Destroying the other destroyed the relation. Only the pairings that held could continue.

94–96%

Tenders inherited

Roughly 57,000 entities, 31–34 levels, and zero extinctions in the tree.

54,985 tenders vs 955 gorgers. The run continues on the Mac; these numbers are a snapshot, not a feed.

“The rule is the destination, not the starting point.”

The shallow run began with an abstract one. The deep run began with substrate noise. Both converged on the same attractor: a world maintained by entities that tended the relation.

Machine handoff

From reconstruction
to the live universe.

The Mac is the persistent runner now. It computes the universe continuously; a narrow read-only relay will publish only its current state; this page will render that state without controlling the experiment.

01Complete

Run

The Mac is the persistent runner. The simulation advances locally with fixed seeds, checkpoints, and reproducible logs.

02

Summarize

A small process converts the current epoch into safe counts, phase, tree depth, and health.

03

Relay

A read-only HTTPS endpoint exposes the summary. No shell, files, or controls leave the machine.

04

Render

The published live page reads the latest frame and clearly marks stale or disconnected data.

macOS + automatic security updatesClean base, FileVault off so the machine boots headless after a power loss.
Python 3.15 environmentPinned dependencies and a reproducible project directory.
Genesis runnerCheckpointing, bounded logs, restart recovery, and deterministic control runs.
Two launchd jobsAuto-resume on reboot from the last checkpoint; never needs an open terminal window.
Power-cycle test passedPower was cut and restored; the sim resumed at exactly tick 21,000.
Read-only state relayPublishes summary data only, authenticated and rate-limited.
Health monitorFlags stopped runs, stale state, disk pressure, or failed checkpoints.

The relay is the only missing bridge. Until it exists, the page above remains an honest reconstruction. A static page cannot become a continuously updating Mac feed without that server-backed connection.
